Hunting Permission!!
« on: November 06, 2014, 04:41:21 PM »
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning, I was leaving a quarter that I had permission to hunt on. As I was pulling out onto the road, a pickup stopped, the driver bailed out and asked me if I had any luck. I told him that it was a slow morning, as I had only seen a few "flat tops"(does & fawns). He told me to go across the road and hunt the 5 quarters that he owned. "Shoot all of the coyotes that you see. They are hard on the deer and my cattle." When asked, he indicated to me that I was the only hunter with permission. What a refreshing approach by a farmer and landowner!!! The old Ukrainian farmer  insisted that I have "1 finger" of his finest from the muskeg with him!!! Where else does one find this?  Walleyes knows the old coyote!!!

Way to go UB, I never ever had any luck like that in Alberta. Nice to see Farmer's and Hunter's on the same page.

That is great.  I have been lucky with permission in Alberta in general but the Edmonton Bow Zone is tough.  The feedback I get from most land owners is they are tired of the trespasser, giving permission and people not respecting their land etc so they have stopped access altogether which is unfortunate.  The one area I did get permission took awhile and now I help the land owner with trespasser, clean up, etc.   I hope everyone is having a great year.

I have always had pretty good luck over the years can't complain. This fall we had a tough time finding land to shoot geese on. Wasn't that the land owners didn't want us on,, it was we always seemed to be a day to late to get on,, it was promised out already. I found in the south when we were in Medicine Hat harder to get on the leased land than it is up here. Most farmers in the north are pretty reasonable about the lease land,, in the south they can't get their heads around the fact they don't own it and the rules are a lot tougher on it down there.

I agree in general I find all land owners are easy to deal with.  Problem is the people going on the land trespassing, dropping garbage,  bringing all their friends, ruining crops etc. are making it hard for all of us. Can't blame them if I find someone in my backyard when I get home that does not have permission there will be a problem lol.

Should have posted Terry my moms place was polluted with geese and no one was hunting it.
