Well we got back from the north country last night. It was a good trip but was one heck of an adventure. Started out with unbelievable winds that were making bear movement less than what it should have been. We did end up seeing a total of 16 bears and 2 wolves in 4 days hunting. With a few missed opportunities we were able to tag this bear on Sat. evening on a spot and stalk. With a well placed shot at just over 200yrds my wife had her first bear.
With my Aunt running the forestry warehouse we were in the loop pretty good on the fires and got out of town via back roads after the highways were closed.
While we had a great time it was definitely over shadowed by the catastrophe that is taking place. With many friends of the family having lost their homes and my Aunt still unsure on hers we still wait the total outcome, our prayers go out to all the residents of Slave and surrounding communities!

Great pics SG. The wife is gonna have them walls filled up on you. That is something on them fires. Not on the news here as much in Vancouver, but keeping track of it on the net. Unbelievable!

I remember reading last spring about the fires up there. I know of one outfitter that lost his camp to the fires in the middle of his season and had to move his whole operation to another camp, mid-stream. In the end his hunters all had opportunity but I felt pretty bad for the outfitter. He is one heck of a guy who does one whale of a job for his hunters.
