If you are busted/spotted on a stalk, don't immediately drop out of sight. If the sheep don't flee, sit still and wait. You may be able to resume the stalk out of sight if ignored (unlikely). If needed, slowly carry on towards them, or angle closer to try to get in range. If you are spotted and you drop out of sight, usually they get nervous and leave.

Good advice and that can carry over to all of your hunting..

Sight..
Sound..
Scent..

Avoid all of these.. ;)

Best tip I can think of is to buy the best gear you can afford! Your life may depend on the gear you pack in!

Always be cautious of any objects in your posession that may reflect/shine. Glare off a glossy barrel, rifle scope, fancy sun glasses, binos etc can be seen for a LONG WAYS, and will make you stick out like a sore thumb.

So another question I have, if I find a band of rams in say June/July what are the chances of them sticking around till the opener? Will they area they be in be their summer range or will they still tend to move around quite a bit?

They won't be far unless bumped. They won't start moving to much until things get closer to the rut then they will start traveling to breeding and wintering grounds. But this will be more near mid October unless the weather starts turning nasty early.

That's a good one.  I'll add a watch to that list of things to try and keep covered up or not in a position to shine.

With that said another tip might be not forgetting a watch.  Some people rely a lot on their phones for time nowadays and don't think of bringing a watch or other timepiece on a sheep hunt where you are almost guaranteed not to have service.  Nice to be able to tell where you are for time in the day.

BackPackHunters story reminded me of problem I had so my tip especially when hunting alone is that it is always easier to scramble threw rocks going up than coming down, so don't take to many chances. From time to time you need to make a call but for the most part double check with your mind that you can get back down.

Getting rocked out near the end of the day can be a little disconcerting.

Allways have a Emergency Blanket or tarp in Day pack and be prepared to stay with your Ram as in put him to bed and dry camp on the mountain with him  so when day light hits you are there .. this is a once in a life time chance some times,, so being prepared helps.. it will hurt when climbing the next morning only to hear a shot

Water water water ..

Boots boots boots

layers of clothing

be ready at all times

some more

Food for Thought
