So tell me am I a sick and sadistic person,,, I was thinking of using some live bait for coyotes. Was thinking of taking a small dog out on a leash and tie it up out in an opening and letting it howl and jump around and when the yotes come out to it hammer them. I wouldn't let them get the dog or anything. I wanted to try it with the old ladies Beegle but she wouldn't have anything thing to do with it ?? Maybe go down to the SPCA and grab a mutt something white and fuzzy like a rabbit, some real looser of a dog that cries a lot.. What do you guys think ?? Good idea or not !!

If you are going to do this, I would cage the bait to ensure that the coyotes dont reach the critter. Not even sure that live bait is legal. A friend of mine had permission from F&W a few years ago to use road kill to attract coyotes for the purpose of harvesting them. It seemed to work very well.

Take my sister's useless mutt (cocker spaniel). One condition though, you have to let the coyotes kill it before you shoot them. Don't worry, it will yap lots and jump around because that is all it knows how to do.

X2...Also I wouldn't post the results since many Eco/PETA types scans forums looking for items to get free publicity for their cause....

A guy would sure want to make sure its on the up and up before going ahead with it.. Probably never will do it but just something I was tossing around. Can't see why it would be ilegal sure dont see anything in any regs about it.

badback,, I hear what you are saying but to be honest with you I am to the point in my life where I could really care less what them PETA freaks think. We will never do anything to keep them happy and why would we even try, they live in their world lets just live in ours.

I wouldn't worry about what PETA thinks (Not sure what "Eco types" are)

But there is a large number of on the fence "non-hunters" and they could go ether way. I think it is in our best interests (and that of future hunters) to NOT do things that the non-hunters would find offensive.

Why would it be in my best interest to give a damn what some non hunter thinks about what I do. Regardless of what we do they do not agree with us. I quit a long time ago giving a crap about these people's opinion. As a group united behind each other we will gain more freedoms not by doing as these people want. They will not be our demise we will be our own demise.

TJ said it many times and He was right,, it is us hunters that will be our own demise and he never meant because of what we do but rather what we do to ourselves as a group and the in fighting we take part in. If we can't even agree on what we do how can we expect others to agree with what we do..

I think you missed my point.

A "non-hunter" is not an "Anti-hunter". At lest not yet. Someone who does not hunt and does not know too much about hunting may see some of our actions as hunters and decide to become or be more sympathetic to the PETA anti-hunters. then we have lost a potential alley to the other side.

And I don't buy the attitude that we had better all stick together or we will be responsible for our own demise.

If I don't agree with another hunters equipment or methods I feel its ok to voice that disagreement in a reasonable way. one can disagree with out doing so in a "fighting" manner.

The hunting and shooting community will always have an advantage over PETA type groups. Our core is willing to spend money there core is not.

Example of this is how come PETA groups don't put in for draws or When was the last time you ever went to the PETA wildlife sanctuary?

I was going to say cat too. I don't think it's a secret the I don't like them. Plus I think they would put up more of a howl than a dog. Or we do have some great primos e-callers if you decide to go that route

Good point, theres a potential some really bad publicity here.
