On the fifth day of my moose draw I managed to call a young bull out with a sultry cow call and he came out on a string and stopped right at the end of the skidder trail! Very considerate of him.
Having bulls answer my cowcalls every morning but not coming out was making me frustrated and going into the thick after them was not an option. Finally after a night of torrential downpours the moose were on the move much later that morning and this guy came out to the call at 10:10 am. I was lucky enough to make a good shot and he ran nowhere, just dropped right there at the end of the trail. Hlaf a km drag to the truck and it was almost too easy.
