Well after a slow day hunting mule deer out east yesterday we hit the bush near home looking for a whitetail. We had the whole crew as usual. Mrs.Sheepguide, Myself and the two little guides which somehow managed to dodge school and go hunting for another day

. Well we headed for a couple spots we like to walk through but only saw does and a bunch of small bucks, so we packed up and headed west farther to one of our honey holes. We hadnt walked far when the oldest boy says "Dad there is a buck". I look over and see that he looks decent and with the kids wanting me to shoot every buck we see from a 3" spike up I decided that he is good enough and take a rest with my .280AI and bag flopped him at 300yrds. We walked over to him and I was pleased as he turned out a touch bigger than I thought. He ended up scoring roughly 158 4/8. We then took him home where my guides helped to cape him and all the fun stuff.
It was another very rewarding hunt with the family and hope the season continues for us.

Right on Darcy 158 4/8 is a good buck great to see all of you can get out together like that,cann't wait for pic's also.The little guides must know an awful lot about hunting and game preparation at their young age.Cheers Andy

Sounds awesome Darcy.. Your story makes me laugh my boys were the same when they were young,, any buck we would see.. Shoot it Dad Oh please, please,, lol they just loved to see them go down. Needless to say they did entice me to take more than one meat buck over the years.. Oh well thats what its about eh hunting with the family, just doesn't get any better..

Well tonight was a bust. Saw 15 deer by our blind but only 3 were bucks and the biggest was only around 120". But another good night with the crew.

You sure he is only 158"?? He is short on his brows and width but he is a great looking deer. I think it is his thick tines that gives him a bigger look than what he scores. Great job Darcy. Hard to pass on those one but now you have to sit the rest of the season and not pull the trigger. I wonder if Whitetail junkie will be able to top your buck this year? Remember he was eluding to you not knowing anything about killing whitetails.

He could easily gain a couple inches in score. I threw the tape on pretty quick and rough.
And I figured he is not bad for a sheep guide trying to hunt deer!!! But hey we all get lucky sometimes I guess

One cool point is that its a year to the day that the wife put her Booner on the ground 2 1/2 miles NW of where this guy came from.

What a team you got there, just don't teach them too well or you will be left on the coach sooner then later...

Great buck Darcy! Im not sure I could turn that buck down with mass he's got in his tines! Congrats. Lots of meat on that big boy too!

Yep glad I tagged out. Been waiting for a rig call and just got it, heading to the rig early Sat. morning so who knows if there will be more days to hunt.
Still have to get up and see ya for a BS. Not sure about getting the wives together as im sure they will probably out do us $:-\$
