Its been an interesting last 2 days. Yesterday was pretty slow, I just went behind the house for a while ans saw only a couple does. Today I went into some lease land I have permission on and it was more eventfully. Saw a few does, a couple small bucks and a decent 4 x 5 I would say in the high 40's some place and let a beauty of a 4 x 4 walk,, I mean he was nice boys, a thick dark horned brute,, I would say he would of went in the 50's easily,, not bad for a 4 x 4 .. Oh well tomorrow another day.

Been at then steady boys other than Sunday,, took the day off to watch some football. Monday was a good day I was actually able to rattle in a couple bucks. One small 5x5 came right in to about 10 yrds and later a decent 5x5 that I wish I could of got a better look at but I think he winded me and vanished before I could really get a good judge on him. Tues and today were kind of slower. I kept Sam out of school for 2 days to try and connect but it wasn't to be. Yesterday only a few doe's and today we saw a decent buck but he scooted th line before we could get even close to getting a shot off then later we rattled in a small 4x4 that Sam passed on. Will be at them again tomorrow solo once again..
Couple pics of our day today.
After the mornings walk and rattle seqeunces we got back to a machines covered in snow..
The standard kuby over the fire for lunch..

Thursday and Friday we hard core again.. Thursday saw me on the trail walking at first light, walked and rattled till noon then on the quad scouting and rattling in spots. Was able to bring in 1 small 4x4 and caught a couple small bucks and a couple does on the trail. Friday was up at 4:30 and hit the road, after a 45min truck ride unload quad and quad in 45 min and off quad by 7:00am (zone is no quadding before noon rule) and walked and set up different rattling sequences through out the morning, nothing rattled in but lots of deer on the trail. On the quad again just after noon and traveled and scouted. Lots of deer out but no shooters, saw close to 10 or so does's 4 bucks all small basket deer and 4 moose, 1 nice bull and later cow and 2 calves. Took this morning off but was in my stand on our own land for the evening hunt. 2 small bucks and 2 doe's,, no shooters. It was -22 Friday morning with a brisk wind, had the wind chill at -28 and it felt it sitting on the edge of some old cut blocks at sunrise with the wind in my face lol,, I have logged close to 30 miles on the boots so far,, its been a blast.. Will take tomorrow off then back on the trail Monday morning. I stay away from crown land on the weekends,, let the town kid shoot fest end then back out during the week when its quieter.
May have a coupe extra days off work to pursue them till the bitter end we will see.

I kind of left this one hanging,, kind of forgot about it..
I ended up hunting right through to the second last day of the season before packin it in. I was able to get on some decent bucks right through to the end but just not the one I wanted. Saw 1 the last day that would of went in the mid 40's and 1 not to sure a nice 5x that I never really got a decent look at but he was no big hog thats for sure. It just got to cold,, the -20 every day got to me. It wasn't bad when on foot all morning but when I would get on the quad after lunch,, a guy got chilled.
All in all it was an awesome season for me, I really enjoyed scouting out all the new territory it is some real great country. Very rough and lots of under brush makes it a tough hunt but very game rich.. Next year I will get at them a little earlier and pull a hog out.
How I spent my mornings,, in all I would say I put on close to 50 miles on foot,, not sure just going by reviewing my maps in the evening and taking an average..
