Very unique picture WB! I really like the concept. Is that another set of antlers to the left of the picture or are my eye playing tricks on me? Cheers, Mike

Here are a couple of my mule deer mounts that I did up.  Nothing special for size but they don't get huge where I hunt in the bush.

Old snarly buck, so I put him on a snarly old burl. And a Euro mount of a not bad buck.

i like the burl mount Axe very unique. that's an old metal tag on those antlers. my dads still got racks around with metal attached. i'm guessing green was early eighties.

I liked the metal tags and the fact that you could tag the antlers.  Now you have to be so damn careful with the paper tags that they don't rip off when handling the animal.  Last fall when we were skinning a buck with the tag on the tendon, it was accidentally cut almost all the way through.  It was just hanging by a thread.  We wrapped it in a bag with some electrical tape.  Also you have to be carefull the paper tag doesn't stick to itself or miss the tag wire when your hands are frozen stiff or the wind is howling.  Like I said, I hate the new tags.  I heard that the new tags will be white for 2012.

I remember I got in trouble wit the Fish Cops when I was 14 with the first Elk I shot.  We were hunting and I shot an elk.  Dad told me to gut it and tag it while I he was gone to get the skidoo to haul it out.  I taged it with the paper draw tags we had back then but I didn't remember the date.  I was going to date it when he got back but forgot to and on the way home we hit a road stop.  I luckily got a warning for not notching the date on it.  Easy mistake to make and glad it turned out right.

Ahh.. the good ole days of the metal tags. I remember my first elk, it was the first year they changed it from tagging the antlers to putting the metal tag in the back leg. Guess where I put it? Had to explain that one when I went to register the elk. Luckily I to got off with a warning. What year did they switch to paper anyways? I could probably go look through all my empty tags, I imagine I will have a couple from that year.
And i think this years tags are now yellow

My spring bear tags were a flourescent yellow so guessing that will be the color this year.
