Howdy.  There is no season on coyotes in Alberta for a resident hunter other than what land he is hunting them on, Private land is year round and unless it has changed, crown land isn't.  Being a nonresident alien [I'm assuming here], you will need a guide and a coyote license as I understand the Fn regs.

Coyote
A Resident may, without a licence and on land to which he or she has the right of access, hunt (but not trap) coyote at all times of the year throughout the province, except as follows:
1) on public lands in the Green Area, only from October 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012, and
2) in Camp Wainwright (WMUs 728 and 730), only from January 2, 2012 to February 29, 2012.

Subject to the exception (*) below, a Non-resident or Non-resident Alien who holds a valid Non-resident/Non-resident Alien Wolf/Coyote Licence may hunt coyote on lands to which he or she has the right of access at all times of the year throughout the province - except on public lands in the Green Area where the season is from October 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012.

*Exception: if a big game season (other than a cougar season) is open in the area he or she is hunting, then the Non-resident or Non-resident Alien who holds a big game licence may hunt coyote only in the WMU or area where their big game licence is valid.

Baiting for Wolves and Coyotes - On public land, hunters cannot use bait for hunting wolves or coyotes except a) from Dec. 1 to Mar. 31, or b) during an open season for the hunting of black bear where the setting out, use and possession of bait for the purpose of hunting black bear is permitted. (This highlighted wording is legally correct but differs from the wording used in distributed copies of the 2011 Alberta Guide to Hunting Regulations.)

Each wolf or coyote bait site must have a readily observable sign showing the owner’s name, WIN, Big Game Outfitter-guide Permit Number, or Big Game Guide’s Designation Number.

These baiting restrictions do not apply to WMUs 102-166, to persons hunting under authority of a trapping licence, or on any private land.

I believe  to be classed as a resident you would need to actually be a resident of the jurisdiction for a period of time.  I'm thinking you would be classed as a non resident alien.

I reside and own property in two provinces Ab/Sk. Because I spend most of my time in Sask at the cabin I can not hunt in Alberta as a resident. Where ever your health card is valid, you are a resident of that province.

That sucks, you should be able to hunt in either if you own property there!

It doesn't exactly suck  ;).  Think how bad the system would be abused if you could be a resident just by owning land.

Thats right Pitw. I have no problem with hunting in Sk, lots of game here. I do wish I would have used some of my prioriety draws before I moved over. I still can but would have to purchase the non-resident license.
