Back to the OP topic....

Sonny I am planning to get my daughter out this year for a bear with her bow.  We have an area that we have been baiting for the last 15 years with plenty of bears.  It will be a blast!!  Cant wait.

No action around the bait yet but it's early,, will work on it more this week maybe get some liquid smoke going out there to get a good scent trail happening.

Sure looks like a late green up down south. We are usually seeing bears by now, there's still 3 to 4 feet of snow in some of the "early" valley's. I have been looking for a color phase over the past few seasons, only saw one last spring but he was too small. We were planning on hunting some private land problem bears this spring as well, bring on some warm weather already!

OK, Now I'm starting to get excited.  Made the bait barrels yesterday, argo's ready except for lubing the chains/brgs and I've started making, "the list" and crossing things off it.  Pressure canned some jars of stew and soup so that takes care of vittles.

I'm thinking middle of May or so I'll head up for 2 weeks.  Hopefully have some takers on my bait sites, figure to kill the days waiting by spotting for moose.  If I can get where I'm hoping there's a couple lakes so will take a rod with me.........just in case.   Picking up my tag in the city on Wed.   ;D

Haven't completely decided where yet, have 3 different spots in mind, although reading what I've just typed my money'd be on the place with the lakes, haha.

Well we went for a drive up the forestry trunk road and we did see a bear but he was kinda small so we let him go.

We also seen 3 moose,3 caribou,7 elk,5 mulies and about 40 whitetails. :) Glad to see that so many deer survived the winter,oh btw there is still a lot of snow on the ground in the high country.

Also we seen something that really pee's me off. >:(

Slob campers...for crying out loud clean your crap up...ffs. >:(

Lol,, thx for the back up guys but no need to keep feedin the guy,, just let him stew on it.. Personally I gave him the only comment I was going to but I guess that $25.00 tag makes a difference to him.

Heck it's not my rules it's the governments,, he can go out and drop a couple hundred G's on a piece of land like I did and keep up the taxes on it. I could mention the fact that the wife is scared to take the dog out for a walk in the evenings cause there are bears roaming the land frequently, They were coming down the driveway into the front yard last summer and I have the neighbours in the area that run cow calf operations that have come to me and stated to take them out when I have the chance cause they are hard on their calves, but in the end guys like this are rarely worth my time,, jealousy runs their lives..

Get over it waterfowler,, it's not that big of deal,, people around here take bears no more seriously than darn gophers,, they're a nuisance that's about it..
Your wife is scared to go out for a walk on your land because she's worried about bears, so your solution is to set up baits to attract bears on to your land so that you can control their numbers so that your wife will feel safer going out for a walk?  Have I got this right? lololol  Great plan!!

Yah it is a great plan,, it's called thinning them out,, take a couple out and remove the bait,, does the concept elude you.. I am surrounded by cow calf operations out here so the bears are constantly traveling through our corridor the bait is simply there to get them to stop off once and a while in order to get a chance to take them out. The food will always be around here for them as the neighbours discard the dead cavles or cows around their land or later in the year the bears travel the oat fields for feed. My one bait is not going to bring in extra bears like I said it's just a way to get them to stop off and maybe get a chance at them. The bait site is at the far end of my land which is a 1/2 mile from our yard site so it's not like it's off my lawn. Not a concern for attracting them to the yard and if one does come through the yard site,, hopefully me or the boy are home and well,, black bear from the back deck I guess,, no big deal..

Why I get into it with goofballs I don't know,, back on topic now boys..
