Spring bear..
« on: April 07, 2015, 02:19:15 PM »
Picked up my tag today but won't be shooting just any bear.

Last year we seen a beautiful cinnamon coloured one and going to try to find it again. It's doubtful that we will see this bear again but we're going to try.I would probably take a nice blackie if he were a decent size. ;)

So anyone else going to hunt bear this spring?

Was planning to but we decided to head to BC and do a little bass fishing instead this year.  Turkey season's on then so we'll take a shotgun and the decoys but don't intend to buy a tag unless we see sign or turkeys.

Hope you come across than cinnamon again Sonny!

I'll be taking Junior up North to find him a bear. I'm really looking forward to putting him in front of a bear or two.

I've heard that if you want a cinnamon bear that the best place to go to is Peace river area.

I've never hunted up that way before. :-\

I don't know Sonny,, I wouldn't put much faith in that statement. I spent quite a few years working in the peace country and hunted there over the last 30 years and can't say as I noticed any differance than any other place in the north. To tell you the truth some of the best color fazes I have noticed are North of Lac La Biche. Get up around the Heart Lake Logan Lake country and that's where I have seen some of the nicer colours.

That's a good size grizz track and I agree with the first few weeks in May. ;)

An old hunter once told me once the dandelions are out the blackbird are out

probably fairly accurate predictor as the bears definitely like eating dandelions.
