Just got back from our first hunt in wmu 507. We had my brothers cow elk draw to fill and my antlered mulie draw. Getting the cow was pretty straight forward once we found where the elk were hiding from the road warriors. My brother Duane made the kill at about 25 yards in the middle of a rather large block of bush. We saw a number a small herds of about a dozen animals in each. Trevor and I did a stalk on a herd with a couple of bulls but they were on the move and slipped us when we spent some time trying to get the wind in our favor.
I saw 3 mulie bucks but none that fit the bill yet. We saw some smaller whitetail bucks but nothing impressive. The deer are rubbing and making some small scrapes but I think the rut is at least a week away yet. We saw 9 moose and a couple pretty decent bulls. Back to work for 4 days and then up to wmu 350 to hunt for some whitetails.
