« on: October 21, 2011, 07:46:37 PM »
Hi does anyone else think there should be more detail on the hunting map that comes in the Hunting regs...?I really believe there should be more detail for the price we pay on licences.I almost shot an elk outaa bounds one time but it took three expensive maps to figure it out .....Just asking i think alot off ppl that Hunt could agree What Can we DO??

I would never argue with a little better detail on the maps but with that said do you honestly think that we would still get them for the same price or be charged even more.

With that said I am not sure how better detail on a map would result in better definitions on the boundaries, I mean how good would it have to be ?? It is up to us to get our own good quality maps and do the research to ensure we are in any said boundaries.

All WMU's in Alberta have a good legal description available online, if you are ever in doubt.

here.... http://www.albertaregulations.ca/huntingregs/

If you look on the left side of the screen, there is a drop down menu that will get you to the WMU you want.

If you are looking for a low cost option there is a new FREE program called GPSbuddy from SkyBase Solutions. This online program allows you to transfer waypoints and tracks to and from your Garmin GPS. If you purchase a $65 BushMap extension you can view all WMU's in Alberta and BC, as well as traplines, outfitters, lakes with depth contours...
