The hunt is over
« on: December 30, 2011, 04:33:55 PM »
Well, the buck I was hunting this year was found in a pile of bones. Close to where my blind was and in the field I was hunting him in... Just a spine, ribs, and his head left. I figure the wolves got him. Atleast I got him and someone else didn't shoot him, sad to see him go this way and not growing even more for next year.. Oh well that's nature!

Here's some pics.

To bad he had to go that way would of been nice to see him grow. Oh well like you say thats nature. At least you have the antlers to enjoy they will make a nice conversation piece.

Great looking deer and a great find.  Nature has its ways, Hopefully it was quick for the big guy.

Nice find but too bad  you didn't get him hunting.  Do you have a target buck for next year or are you going to have to find a new one?  Let us know what this deer scored.  He looks like he will score good.  I would put him up on the wall if it were mine

I'll let ya know in a bit. He is definitely not what I was expecting... I could have scored him wrong although.. I'm gonna get him euro mounted but I need to find a taxi guy in the Peace that does charge and arm and a leg, and has decent turn around time. Start from scratch in the summer ha. Three shooters off my cam this year have bit the dust. Hopefully it's an easy winter so I still have some roaming around ha.

I am surprised! Hard to tell by pics but I would have thought 170" at least.  Throw up the measurement when you get a chance.  You said you were not sure so maybe we could help you through it to see if you did it right.  I'd still hang him on the wall if I were you.  It is a real nice looking deer and with the history you ahve with him it is all the better

To bad he couldn't have lived another year or 2, he had some great potential. Sadly I think that happens way to often in my neck of the woods with the high cougar and wolf pop. .
