Vancouver Island Black Bear Hunt
« on: July 11, 2011, 04:37:35 PM »
I was able to hunt with some friends on Vancouver Island this spring for my 24th birthday. It was a great hunt with lots of bears and some awesome stalks! We seen close to 30 bears a day and did multiple stalks. My friends g/f took her first bear, she made an awesome 280yard shot and crumpled it! I never did find the type of bear I was after with the bow but had a blast either way. It was hard turning down a big bear because we couldnt get in bow range but I had a mission to collect with the bow.
We did some fishing and dug for mussles, I seen tons of eagles and black tail deer and cougars and wolves. I had never seen an ocean before so it was a real cool expeirence I cant wait to go back! And I was lucky enough to be invited back to hunt Northern BC next fall for caribou and goats!

yea that first bear was a PIG! but he never offered me a broadside shot. I snuck up on him sleeping on his back but when he poped up he looked straight at me at 43 yards and had a stare down I could have picked up the rifle and let him have but decided to let him go.
