Wet Spring/Summer
« on: August 21, 2011, 07:31:25 AM »
Looks like it was good for our Migratory birds, but it played heck on the Grouse.
Out driving around the west central part of the Province and haven't seen alot of young birds, actually, I hardly saw any birds!  :(

I love Ruffie hunting, but the last few years the cycle plus now the weather has been having a devastating effect on the numbers. As I see it anyways.

Will be interesting to see how the grouse hunting is. If you get out for birds keep us posted Labman.

I see that the possesion limit has dropped from 20 to 15 on grouse this year.  Probably a good thing.
I love grouse hunting too and Sept 1 is not far off.  It is a great opportunity to do some big game scouting as well.
Last year ruffie populations were not too bad up north.  Haven't seen too many this year either but time will tell.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Well, it was dismal out west for Grouse.
Went out to Open Creek (332) last Thurs., doing a little pre-season scouting/camping for Elk. Took a drive around WMU 330 and 332 on Thurs.night, Fri., Sat., and then Sun. morning, put over 300 klms on my truck touring the Weyrhouser rds. and cut lines along the NSR., for a grand total of one Grouse spoted!!
We did see several Bull Elk, a few Cows and one SPOTTED white tail fawn!!
