Wetaskawin Elk?
« on: October 17, 2011, 07:51:07 PM »
Anybody notice a couple Elk running around wetaskawin lately this year?  Saw the big one again today for the 2nd time.  Scored about 350.  Surprised nobody has poached him by now.  He runs around in the open quarter sections like nothing.  Seen him just outside of town the first time and then today about 15 miles away with his tongue hanging out and breathing up a storm.  Must be looking for cows I guess.  Haven't seen the smaller one but he is still a big boy as well.  Saw another bull east of Panoka this year a few miles as well on the Battle river.  Starting to be a lot of Elk in weird places now.  I like it though ;D

I don't know about Wetaskiwin but I went elk hunting on the opener to an area where no one hunts elk, in 2 days I saw 3 bulls, one was a nice 5 x 5 that I missed :(

I know what you're saying about the elk range expanding, I think the day will come when there will be elk everywhere in Alberta. Lots of zones are over populated with cows and the herd bulls get hammered down early. I think they need to have some general cow seasons and up the 3x3 rule to 6x6 in some zones.

We had a 5x5 bull elk in the yard at the farm near Josephburg (Ft Sask area) a couple of years back.  Not sure if he was a Elk Island fence jumper or a true wildy.  Couldn't tell by the taste........just kidding.   ;D
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Saw two more 6 point bulls last week east of Innisfail, near the same spot I posted the picture of the big 6 point a few weeks ago. Not even surprised when I see them around anymore.

Had a spike bull try and wreck a trail camera a couple or weeks ago. I'll post a pic one of these days. It's comical!  :)
