What a great day this was (fixed the pics)
« on: February 05, 2012, 08:33:43 PM »
I had a chance to take a couple friends of mine out for a hunt and I also took my 2 oldest kids with me.  My kids don't get much time to hunt birds with me and they love it everytime they go.  I bundled them up as it was late in October and a little cold in the morning and we went to try some luck with the geese.  After a morning shoot I took them to a small secrete spot and pounded a pile of Widgeon.  We had a great time and I am glad I got a few pictures.

Three of my brothers love to hunt birds, I personally never gave it a shot.
How do you prepare them to be consumed?
And Next of all how do you get so many hahahah?
Quote from Howard Hill.( Whenever he taught someone to shoot) "Son make up your mind right now if you want to target shoot or hunt as theres a world of differance between the two"

Hope this goes over well....

I killed over 3 thousand birds last year.  Gave most of them away and have conections to do that.  I also take them to work and cook them up quite a bit as well.  Lots of different ways to do them up.  Favorite ones are anything that ends up being BarBQed

Right on Nube...With the ducks do you breast them or pluck?
Treat each day as your last; one day you will be right.

A lot of them get sent whole to a bunch of different Kennel clubs for retriever training and trials.  The rest of them I have breasted out.  I make jerky and sausage with a lot of them as well.  Also I grind them up into burger and a lot of people will give it a try that way if they have not had it before.

Looks like the kids had a blast.  We take our nieces and nephew out for birds all the time,  all the action keeps them very entertain.
