Where to go deer hunting
« on: May 06, 2015, 12:58:04 PM »
Hello,

I've been bird hunting since I was a little kid but I recently bought a deer rifle, a Remington Model 700 in .270 Winchester and I am keen to go deer hunting.

I'm not asking anyone to give away their prime hunting spots, more of a general question. I know a few land owners who I can ask for permission to hunt on their land, but in general .. what's the protocol on where you can deer hunt? If it's private land obviously you need permission, but how do you look up who owns the land in order to ask for permission? Can you deer hunt on crown land without permission? How do you know the limits of crown land, and is crown land generally packed with deer hunters?

Would appreciate any advise.

Thanks, Boomer

Paul

Meat. Although if I managed to bag a nice buck I wouldn't hesitate to mount the head in my man cave.

Hey boomer

You can hunt on crown land without permission.... However some oil companies lease land and you would have to get permission of the land is leased. (Should be posted). You also can go to a map store and purchase a landowners map which would have the landowners name on each section on the map (pricey) .I tend to buy a couple cases of wine and do a early trip in August and knock on doors it's a little better than phone calls I find !
