WMU 234, 236

How are these areas looking for MD and WT in 2014?  Any trophy animals left, after CWD and bad  winters? Have not hunted these in a couple of years, any recent info would be great. Also, how good is this area for waterfowl?

Not sure how they are doing this winter. I hunt 234 a lot and have seen the numbers of deer (trophy bucks included) decline dramatically. The cull, high tag #'s, and the last few winters have taken their toll. Last fall (archery season only) I didn't see any mature mule deer bucks, and only one whitetail buck (he was huge).

As far as waterfowl, those zones can be very good, depending on the weather and the flyway.

How do you feel the moose population is doing & do you ever see any real good bulls in your travel?

Like most of the prairie zones, the moose are doing well. The biggest bulls I've seen were on the base. I'm sure they wander out when they have love on their minds. I ate tag soup with my last moose draw in 234- waited too long and just couldn't find a bull.

Lots of Moose, we saw Bulls and Cows everyday in 234 while Elk hunting in Sept. Deer numbers may never bounce back but we saw a great 6x6 Muley Buck.
