Africa Safari Recomendations??
« on: July 13, 2014, 08:36:31 PM »
Can anyone recommend some affordable African hunting camps? I would like some representative trophies as long as they are wild (no high fenced stuff). I was close to booking in Namibia but quotes keep getting inflated to the point I'm interested in looking elsewhere. Dream trip to travel and maybe get a hunt in if I can afford it, just don't want to drop over $20 000 for 8-10 days. I'm boring. mostly want a kudu and oryx, everything else is flexible. Ideas? Recommendations?

I am going to Namibia in August.  11 day hunt with all trophy fees included for kudu, gemsbok, Eland, Duiker, Warthog, Blue wildebeest and red hartebeest for $6500 USD.  100,000 acres no high fence and he specializes in archery hunts.  Will let you know on Sept 3 when I am back.  I met him a few years ago at one of the Africa hunting shows and got chat with him a few times over the last 15 months.  Should be a great hunt.

Sounds awesome. All the quotes I've received have been at minimum double for that many critters. I did talk to another outfit yesterday a couple friends have gone with so hoping something can come together.

I am going with Engelbrecht Safaris.

Here is their website - it isn't great but there are few pics on it.  I would go to the African shows when they are here in January.  Usually 20-30 booths on display.

CT Safaris.  http://www.ct-safaris.com/about_1.html
I have sent over a dozen hunters with him.  He is great with clients.

Hey Southern Guy

Just made it back from Namibia and I will tell you my hunt was absolutely phenomenal.  Got the animals I wanted plus a couple extra.  I highly recommend Tobie Engelbrecht and engelbrecht Safaris.  The hunt was exactly as advertised and even more than I expected.  There were no hidden fees and I managed to harvest 5 animals with my bow including a 53" Kudu, 37" Gemsbok, 17.5" Blesbok (#2 all-time for Namibia with a bow and #4 overall), impala (#8 alltime for archery in Namibia) and a red hartebeest.  I hunted hard for an eland but did not get one.  My friend Steve got 6 animals including a 57" kudu, 34" gemsbok, blue wildebeest, black wildebeest, warthog and red hartebeest.  I will post some pics in another thread.
