OK I realize this is off the wall, but it's something that really annoys me and I need to get it off my chest. As a kid, I watched Sesame Street religiously, including Bert and Ernie.I always thought they were buddies, never, as a kid, or as a young adult, did I ever get the conception that they were gay. Lair Scott, insists that Bert and Ernie are gay and has a petition up on change.org, and that The Children Television workshop should make them get married on the show. How ****ing ridiculous is that? So The Workshop finally spoke on on this.
"Bert and Ernie are best friends," reads a statement from Sesame Street Workshop in response to the campaign. "They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves."
The statement continues to say that, "they remain puppets, and do not have a sexual orientation."
Thank the Lord, the voice of reason, Bert and Ernie are just puppets. What an asshole world we live in, and what a ridiculous concept. You can read the story on yahoo here
