My Lord What A Long Winter
« on: March 16, 2013, 02:06:34 PM »
My work has been above average as far as this winter has gone which is good but cut into coyote hunting time. I am starting to get a little bit of cabin fever, more snow here again adding another 3-4" to our already 2-3'.  Like the spring is going to take for ever with the run off we'll get. It'll be good for the ducks !!!  I am ready for a melt , some crows and gophers to hammer .  With only 4 more months of winter yet aghhhhh spring bear can't get here quick enough.  Who else is cabin crazy in the northern half of the province.  I know the southern boys are almost calling it springtime.
I'm from the country , and I like it that way!!!

It started in the middle of October.  We were pouring footings and were either freezing all winter or walking in mud up to our knees. Back then Nakiska had  an early opening . Now middle of March and we are still either freezing or mud up to our knees.

Been a pretty busy fall, christmas, winter and ready for a break here as well.  On call this weekend but at 5pm this afternoon I am dropping off the work truck and heading to school tomorrow to finish my apprenticeship.

I'm sure I'll be wanting out after 3 months but looking forward to knowing what I'm doing every day for a while.  No more calls to work the weekend in the afternoon on Friday  ;D

Today is the first day of spring and over here in central Sask it looks and feels like the middle of winter. 2' of snow on the ground and temps in the -20's.

Some more snow tomorrow and Friday but sunny for the weekend.  I love winter and am heading out for a weekend of icefishing with another board member on here.  I am happy about the snow load so far this year, our lakes need it.  We should see some water this spring runoff.
I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

Are you kidding ?  We are having the absolute worst wind storm of the winter and they say 20 cm of snow later tonight with the wind.  Spring around here will be  a ways away.
