My Samurai showed up
« on: May 09, 2012, 09:17:38 PM »
Well got my Samurai from the states, really lucked out its in great shape. Not a spot of rust on it and tight, the interior is immaculate. Everything works great. The only issue I have is it seems to have an issue with the choke, after starting it high idles for a long time and seems to be a bit rich and you can't kick it down, it idles down when it feels like it, will have to check the carb and maybe clean it up. It also has a bit of a power draw, the guy had installed key fob locks and an alarm, I'm thinking that's what's drawing power. I cut the siren wires because the alarm would go when trying to start it with a low battery. Other than that I am really happy with it as soon as I get the inspections done I am going to start building it into the ultimate bush wagon :)

Oh No!  The site guy is a piston head!

Oh well, if you can't say anything nice about a "bush wagon" don't say anything at all, I reckon.

hey paul where did you buy it from? like which state i mean? if there is a bit of an altitude difference it could be a jetting problem... also i have a 91 samurai sitting at the old mans house out back... its all there ... still runs good even if you ever need any parts... ive actually got a pretty neat bush bumper for the front and back as well complete with a reese type hitch in the front so i could move my winch from the front to the back...

what year is that one?

It's an 86 came out of California, I had considered it might be an altitude issue, air fuel problem. I will have to play around with the carb a bit.
