Need second mortgage to stay in Las Vegas
« on: April 07, 2012, 01:32:11 PM »
Down in Vegas I had to go to Laughlin and sort out some things as my dads car is still here so took the wife and booked a trip at Caesars Palace with Westjet. So sitting here having coffee (was a late one last night) on the $14.99 a day internet after I already upgraded our room the pricks can't even throw the internet in. I haven't been here in 14 years last time it was reasonable here. The pricing here is horrendous and nothing is free, not even in room coffee, you have to take it from the minibar for 12 bucks for 4 of those little cup things. Breakfast? $52. Anywhere in the hotel you order a drink it will run you $10-$15 even a can of beer is $8. Absolutely nothing is free here, unless you are playing blackjack, but gone are the days of a $5 blackjack table as Caesars, if you aren't willing to go $15 a hand you might as well go play penny slots. And if you are playing and getting free drinks they are 99% pop, I was at the Luxor last night to see Carrot Top (quite a good show actually) and I ordered a rum and coke and I sent it back and asked for a beer, if I wanted to drink pop I would go buy a bottle of Pepsi.

If you go on the strip you can still find some good deals in some of the older places cheap beer and cheap food but they are busy too by people trying to get away from being robbed lol

Anyway taking the wife shopping (away from the strip) right now. That's my rant for today.

We stayed at the PH towers and was a great deal. Free coffee. Really nice and not a bad walk through the mall to get to the strip.

10 dys in Vegas 350 bucks burned... You know how I did it?
Slept in a tent at the campground in caulico basin and only went to town to get food and water.
Rick climbing in red rocks canyon is much cheaper then the strip.
1 hour and I lost 50 bucks at a black jack table.
Won't be doing that again... No way

we lived high on the hog this trip too!
my girlfriend and two other climbing buddies drove there and back for 104 dollars each hahaha
If you guys spent time in university you'll know how cheap a guy can really get and how little money it takes to have a good time.
I don't drink but if I had I could have easily doubled my trip costs hahahaah

guide book might be a good idea.
I wonder what a good name would be?

Trust me you're not missing much Terry. Its just a big cash grab zoo. If I didn't have things to deal with here I wouldn't bother. Truth be known the morning I got the call on my dad the wife and I were 20 minutes from boarding to Cancun, so we had to scramble to get our bags off the plane. Then I thought my credit card had cancellation insurance, well they said it was an added feature. So we are out $3200 on the Mexico vacation. And Sunwing wouldn't even credit us back for the resort. Just a note peeps always make sure you have an out if you have to cancel otherwise you'll be ****ed.

Was in vegas in dec and found everything overpriced. Was there a week as the wife was at a conference, but after a couple nights that was really enough.

Couple of the shows were good, got deals on them as brother and his wife were residents.

Yeah Vegas is expensive. Period.  People talk about those $5.99 steaks and free booze when at the slots or tables...lol.  Yeah  ::)

Don't get me wrong...Wife and I, AND my kids still LOVE going to Vegas, but don't go if you think it might be cheaper than an All-in trip to a sun desitination.  We've been 3 times in the past few years.  Stayed at Luxor, Caesars, and Mandalay Bay.  Taken in 3 different Cirque shows and two Blue Man shows.  All worth the money.
But each time, a 4 day trip has cost us in the area of around $4500 for everything.  And we don't do a lot of gambling.  I play some poker and usually break even.  Food is the killer, but damn it's good!!
