Some Local Men Missing.
« on: June 14, 2013, 06:58:32 PM »
Not to sure if any of you have heard about this but it is some tough news for the community. I know one of the men still missing quite well and I will say this,, if anyone has a chance at making it,it his him. He is an experienced woodsman and no rookie. If he is alive they have a heck of a chance at it.. I don't know any of the particulars yet as what really happened. If you can let's say a prayer for these men and their families please.

I know all four of them.  All but one, to the best of my knowledge, are very experienced bushmen and canoists.  Hopefully the two still missing will be found safe and sound!!!

The search & rescue effort has turned into a recovery operation.  A local helicopter jockey spent 5 hours flying the route at hyper low altitudes, and has indicated that the Christina is flowing very fast and is not the place to be.

Its really sad to see , but it happens every year . Guys think they can have a few beers when there fishing , and don't wear there life jackets and end up drowning . Leaving there familys in a very horrible way . Probably the number 1 reason I don't allow booze or drugs on my boat , and you best better wear your life jacket while were moving , but I always got mine on , bought them Mustang low profile Lifejackets that go off with water pressure which are far better then them big bulky things .

Are you aware of circumstances in this incident that justify your comment?

Really John !!! This is what you bring to the conversation ?? Would you like to share with the rest of us the details of what happened out there because as of yet things are pretty vague on what happened..

These were all seasoned outdoorsmen of the highest caliber,, people that you are not worthy of even splitting wood in their camp and this is your comment. The missing men have sons and daughters out there and they may well read a forum like this and this is what you put in there.. Some of us know a few of the details of what took place and you have no damn idea how far off on this you are.

You mister oh an apology on this big time and get at it !!!

You mentioned you are leaving the other site because people are to opinionated.. I think you are better suited over there if this is what you are going to bring here..

Its the truth im not going to kiss no ones butt , In the end it always turns out being that way . Ive been following the story and am well aware and it is sad . But how many times do we gotta hear the same thing , missing fisherman , a few weeks later fisherman found not alive suspected alcohol use contributing factor to there death , were found with no life jackets .  Its happened many times , I went out last spring as they were asking for help with people with boats at Coal lake . Its a very sad site to be around .

The only thing life jackets do in this country for the most part is keep the body afloat!

IMO as booze goes it is a personal thing do I drink when outdoors absolutely I do.  This whole Idea that guys loose there mind when having a few beers is ridicules.

Sad news about the two men that are still missing.  The search has now been called off by RCMP.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/story/2013/06/20/edmonton-lac-la-biche-canoeists-christina-river.html

I just want to add that any talk of booze being involved is just completely disrespectful to the people involved and their grieving families.
The real story can be read about in this link.
Geeze John, try to have a little respect already!

I think I see a rip in the social fabric, Brother can you spare some ammo?

FYI, BBJ, two of the guys are canoeing instructors, so your thesis resembles a leaky bucket, it just will not hold liquid!!!!  Until you know the circumstances, perhaps your fingers should leave the keyboard alone, rather than express an opinion that is like the leaky bucket.  You resemble just another keyboard whanna be hero!!!!!  I personally know all of them, and am aware of some circumstances that were part of a conversation with the two rescuees.  Please, just stuff it up your jumbo patoot, and refrain from making yourself look even more ignorant than what you have shown thus far!!

I'm sorry to hear they called the search off. I've heard of cases where they found the lost victims 30 days later, as in Martin Hartwell if any of you remember that.

Where should the authorities draw the line to end a search, should it continue until they find a body or should there be a longer time limit than they use today? Maybe 30 days would be more appropriate than the protocol used today.

BBJ, you asked for this one, I have to agree, one should never make such accusations unless you know the cold hard facts. Even though they may never read it, put yourself in the grieving families shoes.

I'm not saying its not sad because it is , I'm just saying how many times does the truth really come out , experienced boaters , newbies , captains things happen . I guess the truth sometimes heats battles . Ayway that's all ill say I don't need to have a battle here to because of something I said slightly controversial .

No battle BBJ, just a little friendly advice. How's the guiding business going, ya'll booked up? The walleye fishing has been GREAT over here this year, all the local lakes around me have been producing and I have been lucky catching my limit everytime I go out. No gaggers but nice panfry wallies. Tasty too!

Just fine actually very busy summer I've done 16 trips and many more to go in July and August . The advertising I've done really paid off this year .

I understand your concerns , but the things I said are very valid . I'm sorry I pissed people off but more times then not what I said are the truth , every fisherman here knows it .

What ever,, what I have to say to you starts with an F and ends in an O.. I have a good notation in a few weeks when things settle down to show Paul's oldest son what you have written about his father,, that red neck backwoods young man will teach you in short order what respect is..

I have lost all respect for you John,, completely,, don't bother responding,, I'm done with you..
