The Leaves Are Starting To Turn Color Already
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:02:16 PM »
The leaves are starting to turn color already, and before you know it we will be raking them off the ground.  Enjoy what little bit of summer we have left!

Anyone have any big plans before whitetails in November?  I have two fishing tournaments in Sasaktchewan, one at Last Mountain Lake, and one up at Nipawin.  I have some big walleyes to catch before I get to go after four legged critters.  I might get the bow out before then, but have no plans yet.

Yup the leaves are turning and its getting that fall smell in the air when you walk in the bush,, ahh nothing gets me going more than that fall smell. Just makes me want to grab the old birch bark and start to call.. Just a few more weeks and I will be at er..

Gonna start chasing elk and deer locally with the bow this week but have a 10 day moose hunt planned for High Level area for the first week of October.  Should be a great year!!

Still green as can be here, Airdrie. Coming up on my favorite time of year also. Too bad the color is fleeting, seems as quick as the leaves start to turn they fall and everything is just brown after that.

I've always loved fall.  Weathers just plain nice.
Yesterday we had the first plums and the pears are starting to turn color.  Went shooting on Sunday and spotted for birds on the way home.  Today we took the boat to Grassy and checked for balance with our spiffy new seats.  No fish but the wife had some perch trying their best.
Migratory in just over a week and we're within 3 weeks of our moose hunt.  New skins on the truck and running out of things to fix.
Soon, but not soon enough.   :)

Trout fishing in the fall is hard to beat. Beautiful time of year and the fishing is top notch ! In Alberta we have reason to be pretty happy with the variety of outdoor pursuits available to us. Currently putting away the fly rods is a far away thought and my trail cams will make the change to the hunter seamless when the time comes. To me the most important aspect of my personal pursuits is my state of mind. Looking at a run in a river and speculating where the prey lies or sitting in wait and having that "gut" feeling where that deer is going to "show up". That's the keen edge, becoming "one" with your surroundings.
