Open water reports..
« on: April 19, 2013, 01:25:35 PM »
Usually the first open water we get here in the Hinton area is Wildhorse Lake.I took a drive there to have a looksee and I'm guessing that it will still be a week to 10 days until it's open..
However I heard that it was 100% winterkilled, not a good thing.

I also went to Obed lake and Holy smokes there is still a wicked amount of ice and snow on it,I'm guessing 2-3 weeks before we can put the boat in,can't wait.. ;)

Not even a guess in our area yet,, the ice hasn't even shown any signs of letting go, still solid as ever right to the shore.

I did an open water trip a week and a half ago from shore for walleyes and had the boat on the same water this past Thursday.

I have also been fly fishing little stocked trout ponds around Southern Alberta for almost a month now.

I don't think I could handle living up north where the ice doesn't seem to leave for quite awhile after it does down in the south.

In my area, they are saying the ice will not be out for the long weekend in May. I agree unless we have some really hot days in the next 3 weeks.
