Are we talking CF rifles only or complete battery? Sonny nailed the complete battery IMO.

same as sonny but instead of the 30-06 i would pick something with a bit further range capabilities... maybe a 7mm or 300 win

this is what i meant.these are my thoughts on a three gun battery.#1-6mm ackley improved.could work as a varmint rifle and also a good speedgoat mule deer sheep rifle if kept light.#2-280 ackley improved.could overlap nicely with the 6mm and yet can be loaded up with heavier bullets to handle everything else.#3-this one i was torn because i really like my 375 h+h,but some places in africa have caliber restrictions so my choice is the .416 rem. mostly because this is the extreme limit of my tolerance for recoil and still be able to shoot properly.it is very hard to just choose three but i did and would like to hear your thoughts or improvements.lol!

Ok I'll upgrade my .22 to a .22 magnum and I'll upgrade my .30-06 to a .338wm..

But I'm keeping my 12 gauge.. ;D

Only three CF rifles... for me that'd be-

223 Remington (targets, gophers, coyotes, etc)
30-06 Springfield (as above and everything else)
375 Ruger (cause it's fun and maybe a grizzly someday)

This game can't include rimfires or shotguns... or I'm not playing... ;)

Good question.  3 guns for hunting the planet. Well here are mine:

12 gauge.  Great shot sizes for small game and waterfowl. Slugs and buckshot for deer size game.  2 3/4 up to 3 1/2.
257 wthby Mag.  Great range for fur bearing animals and also with a change in bullet size good for deer and moose size animals.
378 wthby Mag.  Can kill anything on the planet.

The funniest thing is that I do not own any of these.  I live in alberta and all I need is my.

12 gauge
22
and my trusted 30-06.  If we could hunt grizzly, I would use a 325wsm or 338wm.

Cheers.

For my little planet called Mb, we need four. 22lr, 204 ruger, 270wsm and a 12 gauge pump. Now for three for the big planet and the original question are 270wsm, 375 ruger and the good old 12 gauge. I could load up some little rockets like 85gr tsx for the 270wsm and just hammer the varmits, load it up with say some 130 gr ttsx for most of the big game. Funny I say that when I shoot the 110s. Then you got the 375 for everything alse that is huge and moves. 12 gauge for the birds, varmits, even big game.

40 cal minimum?

I heard 375 in most game departments, and 4000 ft-lbs for Cape buff.

40 is just annoying, a 7x57 can kill an elephant.

I don't ever plan to hunt anywhere but Alberta, so it's a .223, 20 gauge, and a 6.5X55.
In fact, I happen to have such animals in my gun room  and use them !
