El Faisan double barrel shotgun
« on: June 14, 2012, 10:48:25 PM »
I was wondering if anyone could help me with a shotgun I found in one of my dads gun safes. Its an El Faisan double break barrel side by side shotgun, it says its made in Spain. Not sure what it is never heard of El Faisan and no idea what the value is. There is no year stamped on it that I can see. Anyone?

I have the same gun more or less. I dont have the crests on the top of the barrels and the engraving on the side is a scene of a dog by the water.
but all the rest is practically identical.  If you have figured out what it is let me now. i will post some pixs of mine today

These are utility grade Spanish guns made by Saraqueta. They are not of high value, and there is no discernable collectors market for them. El Faisan translates to "the pheasant" in Englich. It's reportedly in the $200 range (average). My estimate would be somewhere between 50 and 400 dollars (depending on detail and condition) from the quick research I did.

The true value is the connection to your father.

Good shooting.

Thanks Lurch, I actually gave the shotgun to a close friend of my dads as a keepsake.

Classy move Paul.

Likely the best "realization" of value of any firearm....

This isnt really a reply persay, but I have recently bought a el faisan shotgun, great little 12 gauge side by side.  Anyways my question is, how can I find out weather this gun is strictly 2 3/4, or could it be 3 inch as well?  Any information would be helpful!

Well I don't know for sure I didn't shoot the one I had but I would really look into it before I tried to stick a 3" in it.

I am not an expert in El Fasian shotguns by any means.

From some experience with euro guns...

look for proof marks and any specific letter stamps - if you find any they may lead you to what you wish to find. Is it marked as to what choke?

A good rule of thumb for euro guns is that they are always 2 3/4 unless otherwise marked. On some of the older ones you need to be careful though - they could actually have chambers shorter than 2 3/4.

not sure that was much help
