Next gun purchase
« on: April 17, 2013, 08:37:59 AM »

I am one of those "gun nutz"who has more than enough guns and some rarely see the light of day.

But there may be one more I "need" to get.

A walk around coyote/fox gun that I may even take to B.C. to shoot a deer with.

I thought you were leaning to a 17 hornet , which would be a great walk around fox yote skunk badger rifle.  Not sure i would take it to BC for deer though.  With that in mind I'd would lean to the 223 or 22-250  with a stout bullet.  Nosler is supposed to be producing a new bonded solid base bullet in .223 for this very purpose.  60 gr partition would also be an option .  I see Ruger is making a small bolt gun  chambered in .357 mag which would also be interesting walking varminter.

I was looking with interest at the .17 hornet and also the new .17 Winchester Super Magnum and the Savage B-Mag rifle that is built for it.  Nether one I would hunt deer with.

But the CZ rifles I have always like the look of.  And when I saw the 527 carbine it caught my eye.

I saw one on gunnutz for sale by a fellow in Calgary.  I sent him a pm asking for a picture and ome detils as I figured I could drive to Calgary and get it.  But I never got a reply and the ad disappeared.

I see they have some at Wolverine supply at a little less than $1,000.

As far as I know they are not in stores yet in Canada.  The add above, from the online catalogue is from "La Baron" in the east.  (google "LaBaron firearms")

Yes, the idea of a rimfire with relatively cheap ammo with such "good" ballistics and near center-fire performance is intriguing.  But I just bought a .222????? so what will I do????

Yes I will buy another rifle.

I like my new CZ .222 so much with its set trigger that I may sell off a couple of "big game" rifles and buy a new CZ rifle in .270 or 6.5X55 for big game hunting.
