Elk rut will soon be heating up!

I suppose those old herd bulls will be collecting their cows soon. Do you bow hunters start calling this early and if so any reactions yet. Please keep us posted as your season progress'.

I used to bow hunt,then old age caught up with me..lol

But anyhoo....need a couple of frosty nights to get them going good.. ;)

Days are still a little too long/too warm.  I figure about 16-20 days from now, I'll do a little cow calling, just to get a reaction. depending on that I will then start with a few Young Bull squeaks and squeals.

gonna be out doing a little scouting this evening.  Looking forward to it as I know of a few groups that are wandering a couple hills.  May be best to just set up on them until the middle of September before doing a lot of calling.
