Glad they caught one! The poaching in that area is completely over the top. Lifetime ban on hunting would be a nice addition but these charges are better than what we usually see.

x2 seems like he only got a slap on the wrist but at least he got a harsh conviction. I applaud F &W catching this guy even with there severely under staffed.

Bet that first night in the shower was awkward , hope he has learned a lesson.

Since this poacher had the bear parts in his possession, it pretty well makes any self defense excuse look really weak.  Anybody that had to shoot an Alberta grizzly in true self defence would be best to immediately report the incident to the authorities.  Second best would be to just get away and shut the hell up about it.  Taking bear trophy parts with you and showing them off to people is just pure dumb poacher stuff and he deserves what he got.  I am not sure what other details would be of any relevance in this case.

No details on the shooting and the court process.  I didn't see anywhere that it said he had it at his office or was showing parts off to other people.
